A 20-year-old man has been arrested for forcing a 17-year-old girl of Barota village under Sonepat district to commit suicide. The accused identified as Naresh Kumar, used to pass lewd comments on the victim, who was a student of Class 12.
The police have booked the accused under 306 (abetment to suicide) of Indian Penal Code. Beside this, police also booked two women of same village, identified as Premwati and Bimla Devi, under the same section, on the basis of a compliant from victim's father.
As per compliant, the accused used to harass his daughter by passing jibes at her. He alleged that his daughter was very upset over the accused's act and she ultimately took the extreme step by consuming poison.
Barota police station in-charge ESI Dharmpal Singh said that the accused has been arrested.
