Man kills wife over suspected illicit relations in Jalandhar

A 28-year-old mason on Monday allegedly killed his wife suspecting her of having an illicit relationship with a man at Sheetal Nagar locality of the city.

A 28-year-old mason on Monday allegedly killed his wife suspecting her of having an illicit relationship with a man at Sheetal Nagar locality of the city.

The deceased has been identified as Sapna (28), who hailed from Bihar.

Immediately after committing the crime, Sunil managed to flee from the spot but was arrested later.
The police took the victim's body to the civil hospital for post-mortem examination.

After receiving information, assistant commissioner of police (ACP North) Amneet Kondal, station house officer (SHO) Balbir Singh rushed to the spot and started investigations in the matter.

In the preliminary investigation, the police informed that both the couple was not in good terms for the past few days, and infighting had become a routine between them.

The police officials said the woman possibly had an affair with Harjinder Singh of the same locality for the past few months which irked Sunil.

On Monday, Sunil and Sapna also exchanged heated argument. Sunil allegedly attacked her with bricks on her head, leading to her death.

The ACP said they have also recovered the bricks used by the accused while committing the crime.
