Man, son commit 'suicide' by jumping before train

A man along with his differently abled son allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a train near the Jassian road rail bridge today morning.

A man along with his differently abled son allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a train near the Jassian road rail bridge on Friday morning.

The railway police have sent the bodies to the civil hospital for post mortems.

Dubbing it suicides and suspecting no conspiracy behind the act, the police have not registered any case in this regard.

The deceased have been registered as Sudhir Kumar, 55, and his son Rakesh Kumar, 12. They used to stay in slums adjoining Ashok Nagar.

Gurnam Singh, SHO of the railway police, said, according to information acquired from locals, Sudhir and Rakesh had gone towards the rail bridge in the morning. They were hit by a train and died on the spot.

"Sudhir's wife had left him around 10 years ago. She took two children along and left Rakesh with Sudhir," said ASI Surinder Singh, investigation officer.
