His wife, who is admitted to the hospital with a fracture in the leg, is facing the apathy of the health authorities. She fell down when she could not spot a speed breaker and hit a bump on November 24.

"The MC has not followed specific norms while constructing speed breakers in ward numbers 6,7, 8 and 9.

Neither they have painted the bumps nor displayed instructions prior to the spot. Old persons who have less vision cannot spot the bumps on the road and there is hardly any day when people do not get injured. But the MC do not take any steps despite so many accidents," Hemkant said.

He said on reaching the zonal hospital, Mandi, he paid `100 as security to a security guard at the gate to hire a stretcher.

"My wife was admitted to the ward on the prescription of a doctor who advised to have a digital X-ray. But I was shocked to know that there is no X-ray machine in the hospital," he said.

His wife is now waiting for an operation for the past one week According to doctors, she has to wait for more days for her turn to come.
