In order to counter any situation arising out of floods, the district administration has started taking measures in the flood-prone areas. The Mansa district officials have started enlisting villagers, who know swimming. Villagers are also being given basic information regarding measures to be taken in case of floods.
On Saturday, some armymen along with the Mansa deputy commissioner and other officials inspected the Ghaggar river, which flows through Sardulgarh and surrounding areas, to counter any flood situation.
The water level in the Ghaggar had rose to 12 foot after heavy rains this week, while the danger mark is 18 foot, the transcendence of which can cause floods. As of now, the water level is at 10 foot.
The armymen inspected the areas near the Ghaggar to make a plan to counter floods. They along with officials also inspected the area, including villages, which are prone to floods.
The district administration had also been instructed to enlist villagers who can swim so that their help can be taken if the situation arises.
Mansa deputy commissioner Amit Dhaka said, "The state government has issued strict instructions to take necessary precautionary measures in the flood-prone areas. Though there are fewer chances of floods in Sardulgarh and Budhlada, we have taken preventive measures. All the necessities, including ropes, boats, wooden sticks, planks and other equipment, that could help control the situation in case of floods have been readied. A list of swimmers will be made so that their help could be taken in worst scenario. Several medical teams have also been set up to serve people in case of emergency."
