The police will keep a round-the-clock vigil on the border. The police have cordoned off the area by setting up eight police barriers in Mansa. In Haryana, the police will check smuggling under Fatehabad DSP Shamsher Singh.

The wine in Haryana is cheaper than in Punjab and Indian-made liquor is allegedly smuggled from Haryana through link roads in Sardulgarh and other areas.

SSP Narinder Bhargav said, "We have deployed a heavy police force and eight police barriers have been installed to curb any trafficking in drugs. We arrested a number of people under the NDPS Act in the past two weeks and recovered drugs and liquor from them. Drugs are mostly smuggled from Haryana, so we have cordoned off the area to counter any possible smuggling of wine or drugs."
