They told the officer that neither the department nor the industry or traders were in position to implement the system. The meeting was called by DETC Rishipal Singh to listen to the grievances of the representatives of various industry and traders.

Representatives of the United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA), Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Federation of Association of Small Industries of India (FASII), Knitwear Club and some traders' organisations participated in the meeting.

The representatives further noted that the information uploaded for goods transaction under the e-trip system could not be called foolproof, as anybody could see the details of the transactions carried out by the traders/ manufacturers on the website of the department, and thus their privacy would be eroded.

Raising the issue of checking goods by officials of the department of excise and taxation on roads, the representatives demanded that the officials should disclose their identity to the industrialists so that they might contact them for further proceedings and industrialists were not made to run door-to-door for the impounded goods.

The DETC, who chaired the meeting, assured the representatives that he would ensure that such meetings might take place every month so that the grievances of industry and trade could be resolved amicably as soon as possible.
