Martyr Rajesh Pathania cremated with state honours

30 Rashtriya Rifles Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Rajesh Pathania's body was cremated with full state honours at his native village Lagyar of Tihara gram panchayat area in the district on Thursday.

30 Rashtriya Rifles Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Rajesh Pathania's body was cremated with full state honours at his native village Lagyar of Tihara gram panchayat area in the district on Thursday.

Students of Government School Tihra, where Pathania studied, and a number of local dignitaries queued up in to give honour to the martyr.

Pathania is survived with wife, a daughter and aged mother and father.

Martyrs father Rup Chand, a retired teacher, said Rajesh joined Army Mahar Regiment in 1993 and he was on deputation with 30 Rashtriya Rifles at the time of the incident.

Pathania was killed in a gunfight in the frontier district of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir, where a major search operation was in progress to flush out a militant group on October 28.

Chief minister Virbhadra Singh has expressed a deep grief over the demise of JCO Rajesh Pathania, who lost his life while fighting terrorists in Srinagar.

Former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, Congress senior leader Chandershekhar and a number of dignitaries also expressed deep sympathies with the family members of the martyr.
