A Congress councillor has raised questions over the “poor condition” of the old bridge over Buddha Nullah and stated that the municipal corporation (MC) has completely failed to revive it. The leader also claimed that the bridge was unsafe for visitors. Sushma Mehta, councillor, Ward Number 35, in a written complaint to the MC commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agarwal, has said that MC has not done anything to repair the bridge in spite of a report of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC), which had declared that the life of the bridge was over.

She claimed that the report was handed over to the MC a few years ago, but officials concerned did not pay any heed towards the issue.

“If timely action is not taken, there are chances of a big mishap,” she stated, adding that though the bridge had been declared unsafe, thousands of vehicles pass through it every day.
