MC removes unauthorised advt boards

The municipal corporation (MC) removed around 400 unauthorised banners, posters and hoardings of advertisements in the last two days. As per the directions of Punjab and Haryana high court (HC), the MC will submit an affidavit regarding action taken over unauthorised advertisements in the court on Friday.

The municipal corporation (MC) removed around 400 unauthorised banners, posters and hoardings of advertisements in the last two days. As per the directions of Punjab and Haryana high court (HC), the MC will submit an affidavit regarding action taken over unauthorised advertisements in the court on Friday.

Superintendent of tehbazari wing, Harvinder Singh, said that the unauthorised advertisements were also removed from 10 bus queue shelters in the city, adding that the firm concerned had not paid the advertisement tax.

He said that an affidavit regarding the removal of unauthorised advertisements will be submitted in the Punjab and Haryana high court on Friday.

Assistant commissioner Satwant Singh said that they had given orders to the superintendents of all the zones to remove hoardings and white wash the walls where unauthorised advertisements were displayed.

Satwant Singh said that they are following the directions of Punjab and Haryana high court, adding that nobody will be allowed to display advertisements without permission.
