The DLSA would organize the lok adalat under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HSLSA), said the judge, adding: "The lok adalats are dispensing quick and inexpensive justice. Litigants could use this alternative dispute redress forum."

He said more than 25,000 cases awaited adjudication in different courts and a bulk of these could be settled with proper mediation to reduce the burden on judiciary. He said that disputes to the value of `25 lakh could be settled in lok adalats without expense, and the verdicts would be final and executable such as civil court decrees.

The judge said that the second national lok adalat will be held across the country from the Supreme Court to the taluk courts for settlement of all matters related to criminal cases, Negotiable Instruments Act, Motor Accidents Claim Tribunal, marital/family disputed, labour issues, and land acquisition.

There could be no further appeal against the lok adalat decisions, so it saves both time and money.
