Talking to the HT, Bhullar said, “We are visiting all the five districts in which residential schools are set up and the idea is to know the problems faced by the schools. We have already visited the schools of Patiala, Bathinda and Ludhiana and now we are going to Jalandhar and Amritsar. We are collecting information of how many seats are lying vacant, so that we can come up with one more merit list.”

He said the interview for the post of principal would be held on August 24 and if still the post remained unfilled, again an advertisement would be published. “The school principal is the pillar of every school so we need to find the right candidate who can run the school efficiently. Regarding the non-teaching staff we will come out with the list next week, he added.”

The principal secretary school education, Punjab, Anjali Bawra has deputed following officers for supervision of meritorious schools in Punjab. The directions said there were many problems being faced in the schools, which required constant and immediate supervision. “Also, for the time being the principals are on attachment so there is need for intimate supervision and liaison with the principals and district education officers concerned as well as officials of the local administration,” Bawra said.

For two months, following officers are deputed for supervision: Maj Gen KAS Bhullar (retd) for Bathinda and Patiala, Punjab secretary education Rahul Bhandari for Amritsar and Jalandhar, Punjab special secretary education Gurdip Singh for Mohali, and director public instructions (secondary) Kamal Garg for Ludhiana.

Points which can be resolved locally may be done so on the spot. Points which require intervention of the higher authorities should be consolidated and given to the project director for further progress.
