The School of Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology, Punjab Agricultural University, has predicted the possibility of heavy rain in the next 24 hours.

With the advent of monsoon, the residents will get respite from the sweltering hot conditions which were prevailing for the past few months.

However, as per predictions of the weather experts, a low monsoon is expected this year as compared to last year.

Lakhveer Kaur Dhaliwal, director, School of Climate Change and Ag ricultural Meteorology, said, “A heavy downpour is expected in the city in coming 24 hours which is quite likely to rescind in the days to follow. The city recorded 30mm rainfall in June, while 13.2mm was recorded on Wednesday.”

Rajbeer Singh, a resident of Gurdev Nagar, said, “Coming of monsoon is great news for the city residents and it will definitely provide relief from the hot conditions which had them burning for weeks.”

Deepika Khanna, a student of PAU, said it had become difficult to come out of home even during evening due to sultry weather.
