Youth Congress' 'Adhikar Yatra' was given a warm welcome at Lehra Dhurkot village as it entered the district on Thursday. Addressing a rally at Rampuraphul, state Youth Congress president Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary lambasted the SAD-BJP government for appointing ministers 'who were not qualified to do the job'. He questioned the credentials of Sikander Singh Maluka to become education minister.
“The education department is in hands of a person who doesn't have the minimum credentials required to head such an important portfolio. The role of education minister is to come out with policies so that young and tender minds can be nurtured into responsible individuals, which is lacking,” Chaudhary said.
“What an irony that the education department is in the headlines for the wrong reasons. Whether it was the Rs 9.28 crore book scam or the arbitrary decision to club together schools in rural areas, which deprived the children of an opportunity to get education near their homes. Will the CM tell the public, what happened to the inquiry into the books' scam, for which former director general of school education Kahn Singh Pannu was made the scapegoat?” he said.
“Ministeries should have been handed over to people who have the understanding of the field and good track record. However, the ministers of Badal regime are functioning like CEOs of private firms, where public's cause is secondary,” Chaudhary alleged.
