Miscreants rob 7 by offering them sedative-laced tea

A gang of miscreants robbed seven migrant labourers by offering them tea laced with sedatives in a train on Friday. Police are yet to make any headway in the case as the victims have not yet gained consciousness. The labourers are under treatment at the civil hospital.

Police are yet to make any headway in the case as the victims have not yet gained consciousness. The labourers are under treatment at the civil hospital.

The authorities at the civil hospital identified the five victims as Harpreet Singh, Chowdhary, Varinder, Sehgal and Ram Murat. Two victims are yet to be identified.

All seven victims had boarded the Dhanbhad Express from Ferozepur around 6.30pm on Friday. Some miscreants offered tea laced with sedatives to them and all of them lost consciousness after consuming the tea. The miscreants robbed their belongings and alighted from the train.

The railway protection force (RPF) cops found the seven victims in an unconscious state inside the train at Ludhiana railway station around 10.30pm. According to the RPF, the miscreants robbed Rs 53,000, six mobile phones, three bags from the labourers.

RPF inspector Yashwant Singh said the seven persons were in an unconscious condition inside the train and were shifted to the civil hospital.
