Miscreants set labour tenements afire near Banur, one killed

A 22-year-old youth died after some unidentified miscreants set temporary tenements of migrant labourers afire on Friday morning. The incident took place around 3 am when the labourers were sleeping in their houses at Ajijpur village on the Rajpura-Chandigarh road.

A 22-year-old youth died after some unidentified miscreants set temporary tenements of migrant labourers afire on Friday morning. The incident took place around 3 am when the labourers were sleeping in their houses at Ajijpur village on the Rajpura-Chandigarh road.

The deceased was identified as Nadeem, 22, of Saharanpur district of UP, who was working as a road worker . According to the police, at least eight workers were sleeping inside the temporary structures, and suddenly, they heard a sound, which was followed by flames of fire.

And, when they tried to come out of the place, they found the doors blocked with some iron rods. To come out of the place, they broke one side of a structure and came out. However, one of them was left stranded inside, who died later.

Azim, a workers, said, “Somehow, we came out of the site and called the police for help and, after sometime, flames were controlled with the help of a fire brigade. It was a planned attack of some miscreants.”
