According to sources, the file contained some important information on how a no-objection certificate (NOC) was issued to the incomplete building in violation of the regularisation policy.

The role of a former assistant town planner had been under scanner when a city-based RTI activist raised the matter that the officer had issued an NOC for regularisation of the incomplete building.

Following a complaint, the MC had conducted an inquiry and found that the building owner deposited only Rs 32.45 lakh as regularisation fee instead of Rs 1.69 crore. The MC had then directed the owner to pay Rs 1.37 crore in September.

Sources said meanwhile, the building owner moved court against MC action.

When a city resident demanded information about the case under the Right to Information (RTI) Act in October, the MC revealed that the case file was not traceable.

However, MC zonal commissioner Kamlesh Bansal claimed that Anand had failed to give a satisfactory reply. “Therefore, a show-cause notice has been served on the directions of MC commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agarwal. I will comment more only after getting a reply,” he added.

Interestingly, this is not the only case of a file going missing from MC’s possession.
