More than 100 members of the backward classes were rounded up during their protest against the reservation in government jobs to Jats.
Leader of backward classes Rajendar Tanwar said the Jats were economically well off and did not deserve quota in government jobs.
Nearly 500 people belonging to the backward classes gathered in Ravi Dass Dharamshala on Wednesday morning to protest against quota for Jats. They alleged that Jats didn't deserve the status of other backward class and reservation thereof.
The protesters started a march towards the rail track to block the track, police resorted to cane charging to disperse them. Some of the women protesters were also injured.
DSP Jagdish Kajla said, "No one will be allowed to take the law in his hands."
Meanwhile, Tanwar said the stir against Jat quota would continue.
