Mob torches truck after it mows down labourer in Ludhiana

In a mob violence, residents of Jeevan Nagar set a truck on fire when it mowed down a labourer to death in the area on late Monday night. The police also faced the anger of the mob. The mob pelted stones on the cops that were trying to repulse them. The mob also pelted stones on a fire brigade staff who turned up at the spot to douse the flames.

In a mob violence, residents of Jeevan Nagar set a truck on fire when it mowed down a labourer to death in the area on late Monday night. The police also faced the anger of the mob. The mob pelted stones on the cops that were trying to repulse them. The mob also pelted stones on a fire brigade staff who turned up at the spot to douse the flames.

In the violence, three persons, including two cops Bhupinder Singh and Hardeep Singh, have suffered injuries. Tension prevailed in the area after the violence. A heavy police force was deployed in the area after the incident. The police have also opened fire in the air to disperse the mob, but the police had denied the firing.

A day after the incident, a heavy police force was deployed in the area as precautionary measures. The Moti nagar police have registered case under relevant sections of the IPC against 50 persons for damaging public property, rioting. No arrest has been made so far.

Neeraj Kumar ,19, was crushed to death under a truck while crossing the road. After sometime, relatives of deceased reached the accident spot and accused the police for not making efforts to arrest the accused driver who fled from the spot.

On Tuesday, after the postmortem was conducted at the civil hospital under high security cover, the deceased was cremated. The situation returned to normalcy in the afternoon after the cremation of the deceased, but the heavy police force was deployed as the precautionary measures. Meanwhile, the police have registered case against truck driver for reckless driving.
