The CBSE regional-level science exhibition concluded at Sanskriti KMV School, Jalandhar, on Sunday.
Out of the 130 exhibits from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, three city schools have been selected for the national exhibition, which will be held in Delhi.
These three schools are: Kundan Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines; Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar and DCM Presidency School.
Karan Puri and Chirag Gupta of Class 12 (medical) of Kundan Vidya Mandir have displayed their model
"Weeds for noble deeds". Karan Puri gives this credit to his research findings. One of these works is on the effects of UV radiations on the genetic makeup of different generations of cockroach, which is now a patent under his name. He has also developed a modified technique to preserve dead organisms. Besides, many other achievements, he has also mastered the technique of making microscopic slides.
Class-10 students of DCM Presidency School displayed their science model- "The sixth sense" prepared by the team comprising Aman Malhotra and Priyanka Erry.
Aman said model operating on PIR sensors, which would be fitted on waist belt will be extremely useful for the blind people as it would sense anything around the range of 4 metres and thus the person could efficiently maneuver his/her path without assistance of any stick. Priyanka said the cost of this finished product would be around `200-2,500, which was affordable.
