Attacking Narendra Modi, Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Amritsar Amarinder Singh today said riots will take place in the country if he becomes the prime minister.

He said, "it was most unlikely that Indian voters can accept such a divisive leader whose only qualification was his presiding over the killing of innocent Muslims in Gujarat."

Amarinder warned that "in case Modi becomes the Prime Minister there is every apprehension of riots taking place."

"Let us not forget the way he began his innings as the Gujarat Chief Minister and God forbid if he becomes the Prime Minister he may repeat the same," he said, adding that "minorities are traumatised and terrorised in Gujarat whether these be the Muslims, Christians or the Sikhs."

The former Punjab chief minister also demanded a thorough inquiry into the suicide committed by Sunny Johar, a close aide of Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia amid the allegations that he had named him (Majithia) in the suicide note.

"Now police are trying to hush-up the matter", he said, adding, "I hope the justice is done into the matter and the guilty should be punished."

He said during the last thirty years the Congress was not the only party in power but BJP and other parties had also been in power. "Why didn't they do it? Now when Congress did it they are trying to find flimsy faults."
