Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday claimed that BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has promised to implement development plans for Punjab on priority basis when he assumes PM office.

"When Narendra Modi becomes the Prime Minister, the biggest gainer will be the people of Punjab. India's future Prime Minister has already studied problems and development plans for Punjab and promised to implement these as a first priority when he assumes office," Badal said.
"We have discussed in detail how Centre needs to help Punjab liberally in areas such as agricultural diversification, short and long term relief packages for farmers hit by natural calamities, cleaning of river waters, sewerage and water supply, and for upgradation of urban infrastructure," Badal claimed.
He said the massive turnout of voters in the third phase of polling has indicated that the impact of "Modi Magic" in these polls was even greater than what was expected earlier.
"We are watching something unprecedented in the 67-year-old history of independent India. The 'Modi wave' which everybody, including the media, has been predicting is turning out to be storm which will sweep the Congress out of the political map of the country," he said.

{{/usCountry}}Badal addressed rallies at Jandiala Guru, Fatehabad and Alagon Kothi on Friday campaigning for SAD-BJP candidate from Khadoor Sahib, Ranjit Singh Brahampura.
Addressing the gathering at Alagon Kothi village, Badal alleged that Congress leaders from Punjab had deliberately blocked all central schemes and funds meant for the state.
"They kept lobbying against Punjab and told their high command that any help to Punjab would help the SAD-BJP alliance in the state. As a result, we did not get a single penny for grassroots development during the normal plans. The entire backlog will be cleared at one go by the prospective Prime Minister of the country, Modi," Badal said.
