Presiding over a meeting of the board of directors (BOD) of the corporation, Shandi said the HBCDC would provide loans on nominal interest rates to more beneficiaries from the backward class. He informed that the government had also decided to waive off 2% additional interest imposed on defaulters.

"This decision has benefitted 627 borrowers to the tune of Rs 1.60 lakh. Moreover, this scheme has been extended up to December 31, 2014," he said.

Shandil also emphasised on organising awareness campaigns to educate beneficiaries about the scheme.

Principal secretary of the department of social justice and empowerment, PC Dhiman, said the corporation would increase targets fixed for the allocation of loans during the current financial year. During the meeting, the BOD approved the Corporation budget for 2014-15.
