Though police are spending sleepless nights, spurt in night checking can be seen. However, the poor animals continue to ventures on roads to find some foods in garbage dumps here. This town knows little about the risk to their lives.

The city was stunned to see the carcasses of seven cows and two bulls on November 16, which appeared to be poisoned. Residents had kept their establishments closed to express anger while many opined that it might be the handy work of some anti-social elements, who wanted to disturb the peace of the city.

The deaths of these bovine animals did not limit only to the November 17 incident; two more bulls were found dead with grave pain, which further confirmed that somebody was poisoning these poor animals intentionally. As police had increased security of the city, the miscreants targeted cows at Manwal, an outer part of the city, where two cows were found dead with missing organs.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rakesh Kaushal, who has put his force on high alert, claimed that he would not rest until he solves this mystery.

Bhisham Pathania, who has been demanding lodging of these bulls at a 'nandi shala', said the stray animals would be safe if put in some safe place that would further help administration. "They still wander on the roads and needs a protection house like a house made up for the cows,: said Pathania, adding that action must be taken against the persons leaving their cows after milking them.
