Though children and elderly visit these parks in areas such as Ghumar Mandi, Gurdev Nagar and in colonies adjoining Ferozepur Road, MC has failed to maintain majority of power boxes installed on poles, which consequently are lying broken.

Residents claim that they have complained several times but still no action has been taken by the MC.

Children accompanied by parents or guardians can be supervised to stay away from these wires, but those on their own, are under constant danger, forcing parents to keep their children away from parks.

"My three-year-old son was playing in the park at Krishna Nagar in Ghumar Mandi when he saw the naked connection and tried to touch it. But I stopped him. Now we don't go to park as I feel these places are unsafe,” said Amandeep Kaur.

Ramesh Srivastav, president of the Samaj Sewa Society, a social organisation, said, "The children can easily come in contact with the dangerous points due to negligence of the authorities concerned. The authorities should ensure that all naked wires are covered at the earliest."

When contacted, MC additional commissioner (technical) SP Singh said they would cover the naked connections in the parks at the earliest, adding that technical officials would be sent to the parks to check the connections.
