Neighbour attempts to rape minor

The city police have arrested Shiv Kumar,30, a resident of Swaran Park, for attempting to rape a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in his neighbourhood. The accused was allegedly drunk, when a caretaker spotted him the girl behind some shops.

The city police have arrested Shiv Kumar,30, a resident of Swaran Park, for attempting to rape a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in his neighbourhood. The accused was allegedly drunk, when a caretaker spotted him the girl behind some shops.

"At around 2pm, Shiv Kumar took the victim, who is the daughter of a migrant labourer living in his neighbourhood, to an isolated place. However, Jatinder Singh spotted him and the girl also raised an alarm. Jatinder informed the police and the accused was arrested," said police sources.

The accused has been booked under Sections 376 (rape) and 511(punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with life imprisonment) of the IPC.
