Interacting with the media, Singh said although she was not aware about the projects and other issues about Ludhiana, her priority would be to ensure basic amenities for city residents.

“I will study the issues and projects going on in the city soon, so that I can start delivering my responsibilities as soon as possible. But the main focus would be to provide better basic amenities to residents,” Singh said.

A 2004-batch IAS officer, Singh has replaced Rahul Tewari, who has been posted as special principal secretary to Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Singh would also be the chairman of Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) and chief administrator of Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority. She joined these offices as well on Tuesday.

Singh, who is the wife of Ludhiana Rural senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ashish Chaudhary, was last posted as special secretary finance, health and family welfare, besides director lotteries.
