Eleven years after it became a district, deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal inaugurated its 7-acre, five-storeyed district administrative complex (DAC) built at a cost of Rs 110 crore in Sector 76 on Thursday. From August 29 (Monday), the deputy commissioner and the SSP office would operate from the new building.
“Over the next five years, Rs 2,500 crore will be spent on the development of SAS Nagar. The district is set to become the hub of Punjab through the Education City, the IT City, the MediCity and the advent of Infosys.”
He added with international flights starting from September 15 from the airport, trade and commerce would see a boost. He also claimed that work on 6-laning of Chandigarh-Ludhiana road and Ludhiana-Jalandhar road would begin soon.

GROUND FLOOR: Seva kendra, Farad Kendra and Suwidha Centre; offices of sub divisional magistrate (SDM) and district transport officer (DTO) will also be on the ground floor

SENSORS TO SAVE ELECTRICITY
The building will have sensors to save electricity. If there is nobody in a room, electricity will get turned off automatically. The building has 37 rooms on the ground floor, 65 rooms on the first, 77 rooms on second, 72 rooms on third and 46 rooms on the fourth floor.
