Haryana sports and youth affairs minister Anil Vij on Friday said the state's new sports policy would be announced on the occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on January 12, 2015.
Vij said a committee would soon be constituted in order to draft the new sports policy, which would lay emphasis on the promotion of sports in the state. He said this committee would include senior officers, renowned sportspersons and sports experts.
He added that suggestions with regard to the new sports policy had been invited from experts in the field and also from sportspersons so that policy could be encouraging and advantageous to all the sportspersons.
Under the policy, special attention would be paid on new methods to train players at a young age, appropriate diet and other related needs. Besides, the consideration of every city, village, town and community would be kept in view in the new sports policy, which was missing in the present sports policy.
"The previous government had just restricted the sports policy to bringing medals by sportspersons and giving awards but our government would go beyond this and more emphasis would be on tapping the young talent," he added.
