Punjab pollution control board on Wednesday raided 22 electroplating units in different areas of Ludhiana, and found nine of them violating pollution control rules.

PPCB member secretary Babu Ram told reporters that the nine units were found violating the guidelines on proper treatment and disposal of effluents.

He said such drives would be carried out regularly and strict action taken against the violators.

The board has already ordered closure of some 24 units in June when they were found discharging untreated effluent directly into sewerage.
