NIT Karamchari Sangh stages protest

While teaching staff and students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) here were listening to video conferencing by President Pranab Mukherjee, the non-teaching staff of the institute struck their work and raised slogans against the administration of the institute.

While teaching staff and students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) here were listening to video conferencing by President Pranab Mukherjee, the non-teaching staff of the institute struck their work and raised slogans against the administration of the institute.

They alleged that the registrar of the institute did not invite the non-teaching employees of the institute for the video-conferencing session.

Later, in a press statement, president and joint secretary of NIT Karamchari Sangh Shiv - Raj Chehal and Sanjay Mehta - alleged that it was sheer discrimination with them. They alleged that the administration called in a large contingent of police to threaten them.

They alleged that the registrar was using car of private security agency for personal purpose. They alleged that while the vehicle was private, it carried the logo of NIT reading 'NIT security', which is violation of vehicle rule. They announced that they will continue to hold protest daily from 9 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm till registrar apologises for his conduct.
