The Nabha robbery has taken place on February 1, when three assailants robbed a van of Rs 37 lakh here after killing a guard and injuring a cashier, and escaped on a motor cycle.

They were in an ambush inside the State Bank of Patiala automatic teller machine in the crowded Alhoran Gate and shot gunman Randhir Singh, who was standing next to the van. The accused fled away from the main crowded area of city on motorcycle after firing in the air, but the police failed to nab them.

The police have already released the sketches of the accused apart from announcing an award of ` 50,000. But the case is still unresolved. In another broad daylight loot near Gurdwara Dukhniwaran, assailants looted `4.5 lakhs at gunpoint from the office of a money exchanger. After committing the crime, the accused managed to flee on their motorcycle.

Sources said that a similar case was also unresolved in which a cashier of a businessman was also killed in a similar manner, about three years ago.
Jaskaran Singh Teja, the SP (detective) said that in Nabha robbery, the police had identified the robbers, but all were absconding. As far as Patiala money exchanger robbery was concerned, the SP said the police had got some leads but it could not be shared at this stage.
