People's Party of Punjab (PPP) president Manpreet Singh Badal on Saturday made it clear that there was no move by his party to have an alliance with the Congress in the state at present.
While talking to reporters after announcing the district office-bearers of the party at Rupnagar, Manpreet said there had been no talks with the Congress for an alliance in the state. He termed the media reports in this regard as mere speculation.
He said that being a political party, the PPP would contest all elections in the state, including the next Lok Sabha elections, with enthusiasm and expressed the hope that the people of the state would change the traditional politics of the state, which had failed to deliver during the last 65 years.
The PPP president said the cable, sand and transport mafias were ruling the roost in the state, and the chief minister and the deputy chief minister must fulfil their constitutional and legal duty to keep a check on the activities of these mafias.
Manpreet also expressed a serious concern over the "deteriorating" law and order situation in the state.

Senior PPP leaders, including Amardeep Singh Brar, Rupnagar district president Balwant Singh Gill and senior vice-president Sarabjit Singh Bains also spoke on the occasion.
