No water supply till afternoon in Mohali, low pressure in UT

Chandigarh will see low water pressure on Sunday. In Mohali, the supply will remain suspended till afternoon.
In Panchkula, Sectors 1, 2, 4, 6, 7 and 11 get supply through the waterworks. Authorities claimed that they have enough water supply to meet any emergency till Sunday evening. This is the result of eight motors being damaged at the Kajauli waterworks due to flooding in the complex between 4-5am on Saturday.
Water supply executive engineer HPS Dhillon said, “Power supply to Kajauli water-works was suspended from 4am to 5am. The drainage of the complex was already full. With power not there, the water gushed back, leading to motors being completely submerged in water.”
The two pump houses in Phases 1, 2, 3 and 4 were flooded, the Chandigarh MC that maintains the waterworks.
Saturday also saw disruption
Supply was hit on Saturday with Shahimajra, Phases 1, 2 3, 4, 5, and 7, 8 9, 10, 11, Sector 70, 71, 72 and 75 not receiving water.
Chandigarh MC officials said that 17 departmental and 20 private water tankers had been arranged to tide over any crisis on Sunday. They said diesel engines and fire tenders had been called in.
Chief engineer NP Sharma said 90% of the water had been pumped out by 2pm on Saturday. “Motors have been dismantled and sent to different agencies to save time for repair. Of the 8 motors, 3 will be made operational by Saturday night and the rest by Sunday morning.”
