Nominal increase in cheating cases during boards in Ludhiana

The Punjab School Education Board has not set up any separate examination centres for the open school students this time to check the menace of cheating, but in Ludhiana it were mostly the open school students who were caught cheating during the annual board exams.

The Punjab School Education Board has not set up any separate examination centres for the open school students this time to check the menace of cheating, but in Ludhiana it were mostly the open school students who were caught cheating during the annual board exams.

A total of 21 cheating cases were reported during the Classes 10 and 12 Punjab School Education Board annual exams in Ludhiana this year as compared to 12 cases last year, while not a single case was reported during the compartment exams in July 2013.

Gurjot Singh, deputy district education officer (secondary), said, “The number of cheating cases has increased but the increase in not massive this year.

The anticheating campaign started by the board has had an effect on teachers and students of government schools and those found cheating were mostly the open school students.”

According to the education department, nearly 100 cheating cases were reported in Ludhiana district in 2012.

Meanwhile, out of 21 cases this year, three students were caught using Bluetooth through mobile phones as against one student of last year.
