AMRITSAR: A day after radical Sikh groups rejected the Akal Takht’s decision to pardon Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a blasphemy case, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Avtar Singh Makkar said the Takht’s decisions should not be questioned.

In a statement issued through SGPC spokesperson Daljit Singh Bedi, Makkar said, “It is unfortunate that some people are raising questions on the decisions taken by the Akal Takht. We should abide by what the Takht decides and there must be no opposition to it.”

Makkar, who said this while addressing a religious function in Madhya Pradesh, added, “The hue and cry raised by a few persons after the Akal Takht accepted the dera chief’s apology has no meaning and is unjustified.”
