Notices sent to 12 tainted students

The Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) has issued notices to 12 medical students, who were found involved in the paper leak scam of medical entrance in 2012. The twelve students of Government Medical College were allegedly involved in purchase of the exam papers.

The students have been asked to 'explain why their admissions should not be cancelled'.

"The notices have been sent to these 12 students, asking to show cause within 7 days,” said Dr Muhammad Rafiq Pampori, principal GMC.

“We have no role so far. We cannot take action until and unless BOPEE cancels their admission because students were selected by the board not the medical college,” said Rafiq.

The development in the infamous BOPEE scam has come after Jammu and Kashmir high court directed board to cancel admission of 12 students who have allegedly purchased the common entrance test question papers in the 2012-MBBS exams.

“We can only terminate their admission when orders will come from BOPEE,” said Rafiq.

A division bench of justice Virender Singh and justice MH Attar passed the order after perusing the status report of crime branch in response to a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking probe into fraud in the common entrance test conducted by BOPEE in 2012.
