The complaint by resident of Vikas Nagar revealed that despite the horrible incident with her daughter three days ago on Sunday evening, the local police did not initiate any action. It is despite the fact that the accused left the victim in front of Tripari police station.

“Even as the victim narrated the entire incident to the officials inside the station, no immediate case was registered,” stated the complaint, which was submitted to Badal during his sangat darshan programme, here.

As the victim threatened to commit suicide in the complaint, Badal immediately directed SSP Gurmeet Singh Chauhan for onspot action. That moved ranks of police present there. By evening the women cell booked main accused Gurpal Singh, along with his three accomplices including Bachiter Singh, Ramji Das and Jeet Singh, of rape and kidnapping.

Cell in-charge Bindu Bala told HT that the victim had told the police in her statement that she was kidnapped by the main accused along with others from her house on Sunday evening when her mother was not at home.

The police said it did not seem the case of gang rape as the victim had alleged of physical torture only by the main accused. “The investigation is on,” they said.

One of the relatives of the victim told HT that the main accused was a relative who was troubling the victim since long. While demanding immediate arrest of those involved in the crime, she said appropriate action should be taken on Tripari police station police officials as they did not take timely action despite being approached soon after the crime.
