Sources in the city railway station informed the configuring team from the centre would come on August 29 to the city railway station for checking technical aspects that are important for making the system operational.

Earlier, if a passenger had to reserve a retiring room for their stay before the scheduled arrival of their train, they had to approach the inquiry office of the particular railway station and make their booking but this online booking facility will help them reserve the room beforehand from anywhere.

The retiring room of the Jalandhar railway station consists of four rooms (two AC and two non AC) and one dormitory that consists of eight beds. The charge of an AC room for 24 hours is `450 while the non AC room costs `250. The charge per head of the dormitory for one hour is `70 and for 24 hours is `100.

Any passenger with the Passenger Name Record (PNR) of a confirmed or Reservation against Cancellation (RAC) can make an online booking for a retiring room. The ticket can either be a counter ticket or an e-ticket.

For online booking facility, one can visit either the tourism website of IRCTC (www.railtourismindia.com) or the e-ticketing website (www.irctc.co.in).
