Panjab University announces admission schedule for new session

Admission for BA economics and BCom in evening studies will be on merit and counselling will begin on July 19 and 20 respectively.

A press conference regarding the admission schedule for the session 2018-19 was organised at Panjab University (PU), in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Dean of university instruction (DUI), Panjab University, Shankarji Jha, department of evening studies chairman, professor Gurpal Singh, dead student welfare (DSW) Emanual Nahar, secretary to vice-chancellor (V-C), Amrik S Ahluwalia were present during the conference.

The candidates seeking admission in BCom course in the department of evening studies can also apply online on the same link. Admission will be merit based and the counselling will begin on July 20. The course has 70 seats.

Professor Gurpal Singh said, “This time PU was not made a part of the centralised admission process for BCom by the Chandigarh administration.The students from the adjoining states will have less chances of admission under the centralised admission system for colleges here as there is 85% reservation for Chandigarh candidates.” On the contrary, such students will have a 100% chance for admissions in the university, he added.

No request for corrections, regarding category/ weightage of merit, etc. in the application form will be entertained after July 13. Candidates can visit PU law auditorium for removal of rejections regarding certificates of reserved category/additional seats/weightage under NCC/NSS/youth welfare/adult education on July 7 and 13 (from 9 am to 5 am). Candidates can update their result online 24 hours prior to counselling.

The course has 29 seats with 4 additional seats under the NRI quota.

• Counselling – July 20 to July 28

• Late admission with permission of chairperson (with ₹650 late fee) – July 30 to August 13

• Late admission with permission of V-C (with ₹ 2,250 late fee) – August 14 to 31
