The Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) is going to polls on September 6. Though poll code came into force since the day PU dean students’ welfare (DSW) Emanual Nahar announced the poll date, its implementation on campus has been on the backseat.
According to the code of conduct, the student parties cannot use printed material for canvassing and are not allowed to paste party stickers on vehicles. However, despite notice boards at many places in the university being cleared of printed posters and stickers on Wednesday, all the boards outside the RC Paul Hall are still full of picture posters of Students Organisation of India (SOI).
There are only a few parties who are using handmade or handwritten stickers and posters for canvassing according to the poll code.
Anywhere and everywhere
Many cars were also seen with printed stickers inside the campus, though now the supporters of various student parties are pasting smaller stickers on their vehicles. Even the dustbins have small picture posters of the National Students’ Union of India’s (NSUI’s) president Pankaj Jakhar near the Student Centre. SOI and Gandhi Group Students Union (GGSU) supporters were also seen with printed stickers pasted on their shirts.
Meanwhile, DSW Emanual Nahar said, “We gave fine slips to wardens and department heads. If student parties do not remove the posters, they will be fined.”
