Darshi has been associated with the party for the past 37 years. He failed to get the Congress ticket in the 2012 assembly elections from Sujanpur, from where BJP candidate Dinesh Singh Babbu won.

In his resignation letter sent to various senior party leaders, Darshi he had been feeling suffocated in the party since long, even as workers from his area were not getting proper respect which has drove him to resign from the primary membership of the party. Darshi has also reminded party leadership about his contribution in his 37 year tenure where he had never felt so bad as on now he is feeling and he is left with no option but to give a resignation to show his unrest.

Later darshi while addressing the media persons claimed that senior party leaders were ignored at the time of giving a ticket and the posts according to their capabilities and experience now also which was sufficient to create an unrest in the party which is eveident with the many leaders opting the same path he has adopted. I have resigned and am firm on my decision he concluded.
