Pathetic condition of parks keeps visitors away; swings, lights dysfunctional for long

The public parks in most areas of the city are in a pathetic condition due to negligence of Municipal Corporation (MC). Public parks and playgrounds had always been very essential for promoting healthy activities among citizens, but unfortunately the neglected parks have failed to attract any visitors, while families have started to avoid visiting these parks due to poor management.

The public parks in most areas of the city are in a pathetic condition due to negligence of Municipal Corporation (MC). Public parks and playgrounds had always been very essential for promoting healthy activities among citizens, but unfortunately the neglected parks have failed to attract any visitors, while families have started to avoid visiting these parks due to poor management.

The parks in Dashmesh Nagar near Gill road, near Chhawani Mohalla and Salem Tabri had been lying in a pathetic condition because jogging tracks, swings, lights and benches installed in these parks had been dysfunctional for a long time. arbage and stagnant water add to the woes of the visitors.

Around 10 years ago, the parks along this road near Chhawani Mohalla and Salem Tabri were upgraded, but the MC authorities have failed to maintain these parks. While majority of the swings have rusted, the boundary grills of some parks are broken.

According to residents, gardeners do not visit these parks where wild grass have been growing unchecked. Wild grass should be cut and garbage should be removed to retain the beauty of these parks, said residents.

Residents of Dashmesh Nagar near Gill road said from the past many years, the fountain installed in the park was not functioned and the park was not maintained since past several years. Moreover, wild grass has not been trimmed from past many months.

Maientence work in some parks of the city has started and rest of the parks will also be covered. All the pending payments of the parks will be given soon. GK Singh, MC commissioner.

Wild grass is growing in the parks of our area. Children do not go to these parks as their parents do not allow them to go due to fear of infection. Navpreet Bhattal, Rajguru Nagar resident.
