Members of various unions - PAU Teachers Association (PAUTA), PAU Employees Union (Recognised) and PAU Fourth Class Workers Union - held the protest rally under the aegis of coordination committee.

The members participated in the rally raising slogans against the Punjab government for non-release of grant-in-aid to meet the salary for the month of February. The rally was addressed by Mukesh Siag, president of PAUTA; HS Kingra, general secretary of PAUTA; and Avtar Singh Gurum, president, PAU Fourth Class Workers Union.

While addressing the rally, Paramjit Singh Gill, president of PAU Employees Union, said the Punjab government had issued several letters for timely disbursement of salaries among the employees, however, for the last three or four months they were not getting salaries in time. Urging the government to release funds for the salaries, he demanded release of funds to meet 70% arrear that was pending since long.

Gulzar Singh Pandher, general secretary, said the rally would again be held on Tuesday if their salaries were not disbursed on Monday.
