Interestingly, there is also a signboard put up by the local authorities which prohibits dumping of garbage. “Persons violating will be penalised,” it says. This garbage dumping site is a permanent source of nuisance for our staff and guests, said Anju Rais, proprietor of Hotel Angel's Inn, located adjacent to the garbage dumping site.

She urged the local administration to immediately shift the dumping site to some other location where environment and ecology was not affected. Due to the stinking smell emanating from the garbage, guests of her hotel check out of the hotel, ruining her business.

Nidhi Ahuja, a tourist from Delhi, said this dumping site could cause the outbreak of some contagious diseases. Tourists suffer when instead of beautifying the roadsides, these were being used to dump garbage.

Six hotels and a mini-hydropower project on nearby Allain River are located near the garbage dumping site. Local SDM Viney Dhiman could not be contacted for comment, despite repeated attempts.
