Police bust bike lifters’ gang in Patti, three arrested

The police on Wednesday busted a gang of bike thieves and arrested three of its members besides recovering 16 stolen motorcycles from their possession.

In a press conference on Wednesday, station house officer (SHO) of Sadar Police station inspector Bikram Singh said they received information that Kaku, Gurjant Singh, Jarmanjit Singh, Harpal Singh alias Lali and Jagdeep Singh had formed a gang and lifted vehicles from Patti and surrounding areas.

“After receiving a tip-off from a spy that members of the gang are coming to the town from village Sarali Mand side, the cops led by assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Naresh Yadav installed a naka on the road and nabbed Jarmanjit, Harpal and Jagdeep, who confessed to the crimes during questioning,” he said.

While two bikes on which they were riding were seized on the spot, other were taken under custody from the their houses. Rest of the members of the gang are still at large.

The SHO further said they had secured two-day remand of the thieves. A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 379 and 411 of the IPC.
