Police solves blind murder case

The Amritsar police on Sunday claimed to have solved a blind murder case wherein a 50-year-old woman, Veena Rani, was stabbed to death a few days ago.

The Amritsar police on Sunday claimed to have solved a blind murder case wherein a 50-year-old woman, Veena Rani, was stabbed to death a few days ago.

The accused nabbed by the police has been identified as Harkishan Singh alias Sunny.

Giving details of the case, additional deputy commissioner of police (City-1) Parampal Singh said, "On July 2, one Gulshan Kumar came to the police and claimed that somebody has stabbed his mother Veena Rani to death on the night of July 1 when he was not at home. Immediately, the police party rushed to the spot and started probe".

Since Veena Rani was alone at home, a neighbour had informed the son of the deceased to reach back home quickly.

The ADCP further said, "Since it was a blind murder. A scientific probe was done and numerous people were questioned. During questioning, Harkrishan Singh alias Sunny was also rounded up. As there were certain clues from the probe, it became clear that Sunny had allegedly committed the crime."

Police also claimed that CCTV footage was also procured by the police that shows the accused buying a sharp-edged weapon. A case under section 302 was registered at the E Division police station.
