Polish delegation woos local investors with high-speed internet

The Punjab government may have been selling itself by speaking about its achievements, such as best road connectivity and being power surplus, a speaker during a session on Poland said their country is located in the heart of Europe and has high speed internet connectivity with half of the population using smart phones.

As the Punjab government claimed to be the best rated state in terms of ease of doing business In India, the Polish delegation said that it had been ranked fourth in the list of investor-friendly countries in Europe by the World Bank.

Inaugurating the session, Witold Jerzy Pietrewicz, secretary of state, ministry of economy, said Poland was enthusiastic about partnership with Punjab. It was also announced that Poland and Punjab Agriculture University will step up research and development activities in the agriculture sector.

The Polish delegation came following a visit by deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to Warsaw, the country’s capital city, in July this year. “IT industry is growing in Poland threefold as compared to other European countries and we have high-speed internet connectivity,” said the speaker.

The Polish delegation also offered setting up of special economic zones, granting strategic assistance, training and helping in funding projects.
