The road transport and public welfare development committee headed by former minister Satya Parkash Thakur has expressed resentment over the slow pace of road construction and repairs in the district.
Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, he said: “PWD officials are trying to hassle the residents on the pretext of observing the poll code of conduct and have stalled work on many roads that connect villages. They are the only options available to farmers to transport their farm produce and fruits.”
Due to the bad condition of the roads, the Himachal Road Transportation Corp stopped bus services two months ago. “The poor condition of roads will also affect the tourism industry,” Thakur said.
He added the committee would launch a massive protest against the authorities if the department did not speed up work on the roads.
