Addressing the gathering during the party's first political conference at the Shaheedi Jor Mela, Manpreet said his party was against the imposition of property tax in Punjab. He said maximum employees of the Punjab government were working in the education and health departments, but the government was not focusing on these departments, thus making people suffer.

The PPP chief said successive governments over the past 30 years were responsible for Punjab's poor economic condition. He said the Punjab government should strike a rapport with the Centre to resolve issues of the state.
